Visibility in flows: levels of circulation and the media appropriation of images

Abstract

Is the complexity of ways of seeing, exposing us, symbolizing the world through images not directly connected to the circulation process of images in
mediatization? To answer this question, we start observing the inscription of
images in circulation, in order to investigate which are the logics that trigger
different levels or movement flows in which an image is sometimes inscribed in a device of a journalistic media institution, or is appropriated by social actors who construct other texts from the first image, becoming media enunciators (Carlon, 2012), especially on the web. Initially five movements or levels of circulation are evidenced, starting from the assumption that there are different actuations, according to intra and inter media logics, which determine the path of images and their visibility and which are related to the possibility of belief fixation (ROSA, 2012).
