a pedagogical listening strategy

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present a pedagogical listening strategy which I call Aural Cartography. This would be a type of Sound Cartography, but focused on the construction of sound maps through various listening processes. I present some concepts of sound practices that are involved in this process, such as soundwalks, field recordings and sound cartography, and then present the method used to carry out this cartography within the Cinema and Audiovisual and Visual Arts courses at XXXX. Aural cartography as a pedagogical medium encourages relationships of alterity, opening up space for dialog, collective exchanges and sensitive listening to oneself, the other and their places. It is a collaborative practice of sharing, reflection and transformation.
