Abstract

The research seeks to reflect on the responses of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, as a non-profit religious organization, to the media culture and the streaming culture, with emphasis on the analysis of television fiction production. For the analysis, we used Philip Napoli’s (1998) methodological proposal that systematizes four types of strategic response by the media to technological disruptions: indifference, resistance, differentiation and diversification. As a result of analyzing the tensions between Adventism and the media, we found the presence of these four stances, with the most recent being diversification, given the use of on-demand services and the inauguration of two streaming platforms.
