The diagram from the Deleuze’s and Peirce’s theories

Abstract

This paper aims to explain the concept of diagram in the Deleuzean and Peircean perspectives, deriving from painting and from logic, respectively, as well as to inventory the possible implications of such concept for the communication/cognition relationship. Therefore, we present the theories about the diagram developed by the philosopher ans the logican and we deal with the cognitive potential of the infographic and the conceptual map, as a diagram, beyond the interpretations inherent to the psychology or to the verb-visual language. The paper is relevant because it manages the aspects of the image/cognition interface and suggests paths for an image theory making use the theories of Deleuze and Peirce.
