The Constitution of Teaching in Higher Education in Nursing: a mapping of scientific production

Abstract

The present study aims to promote the debate about the constitution of teaching by teachers of the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing based on research contributions from the last decade. To this end, a mapping of productions that address the topic was carried out within the scope of the Periodical Portal of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD), the Virtual Health Library (BVS) and the Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem (REBEn) aiming to prepare the State of the Question (EQ), supported by the studies of Nóbrega-Therrien and Therrien (2004). The investigation is qualitative in nature, whose methodological option was based on bibliographic and documentary research from the perspective of the State of the Question. 22 productions were selected to compose the EQ, which demonstrated: a strong presence of the study of the theme in the contemporary academic scenario; teaching as a second professional option; lack of specific training for teaching on the part of teachers; predominance of experiential and specific knowledge to the detriment of pedagogical knowledge; professional education in Nursing as a route to teaching practice in the area; construction of the teacher self in conjunction with one's individual self, mediated by other actors in the educational contexto; professional teaching identity constructed in a dynamic and fluid way throughout life, in the exchange of two professions, that of a nurse and a teacher; in addition to need for further studies on the subject.
