Perception of Early Childhood Ducation Teachers About the Child’s Introduction to the Writing World

Abstract

Through answers to a questionnaire and recurring interviews, teachers from a public education network in a city in Santa Catarina, indicated their perceptions about the child's introduction to the writing world. Hundred and twenty teachers answered the questionnaire, and six of them also gave an interview. The data were analyzed according to the assumptions of the Content Analysis. The authors who provide theoretical support are Brandão and Leal (2018), Castro and Coelho (2009), Kleiman (2009), Kishimoto (2010) and Soares (2018). The results indicate that the teachers perceive that the children need to recognize the social function of writing. The work involving textual genres was also highlighted. Literacy seems to be a guiding factor in the activities that are proposed, although aspects related to the writing system have also been mentioned by the teachers.
